The Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Centura College, and Tidewater Tech (ACT) family of schools held their inaugural Admissions & Education Conference from January 23-26, 2022. The conference featured both Directors of Admissions and Education to promote learning and interdepartmental collaboration. The organization gives special thanks to Dr. Mike Lanouette, Vice President of Administration, and Charlie Parker, Vice President of Marketing & Enrollment Management for the vision and thoughtful training sessions. Zoe Thompson, Director of Academic Affairs, and her team took this vision and executed a fantastic event, known as “The Greatest Showman.”
Throughout the course of the conference, leaders were immersed in valuable training created by a host of peers. Featured presenters included Vickie Clements, Director of Compliance, and Carol Woodard, CEO of Change is the New Black. “Providing campus leadership with opportunities to hear industry leaders and peers speak was invaluable to the professional development of our admissions and education teams,” said Dr. Mike Lanouette.
Attendees were serenaded with a live rendition of “Come Together” featuring Executive Vice President, Dr. Joel English as well as Vice Presidents Pat Thomas, Charlie Parker, and Dr. Mike Lanouette. Said Charlie Parker, “Collaboration is a big focus for 2022 and beyond and it is important to seize the opportunity to learn from other departments.” On Wednesday, January 26, the conference concluded with an awards ceremony to highlight the arduous work of leaders within the organization. These awards highlighted leaders’ ability to serve students both in the education sector as well as their support in the admissions process.
