Tidewater Tech is proud of the active duty personnel, reservists, and veterans who attend our school. Many of us have walked in your shoes and understand the sacrifices you have made for our country. In fact, you will find veterans everywhere at Tidewater Tech: Instructors, Program Coordinators, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, and Administration. It’s because of this first-hand knowledge that we go the extra mile to make you feel at home and provide you with the services and support you may need to be a successful student and go on to build a successful career.
We thank you for your service and are here to help you get the education benefits you deserve.
To receive military tuition assistance, you must first apply through the Education Services Officer (ESO) within your military branch. Each branch has slightly different time requirements, but generally you must get approval before the start of your program/term. Please note that without prior ESO approval, you will not receive funding.
See the table below for current coverage offered by each military branch along with a link for more detailed information.

Recipients of tuition assistance must maintain passing grades and remain in good standing with their branch of the Service.
For more information, visit the VA website to evaluate your options and benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill®, the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, and other available programs before making a decision. There, you’ll also find detailed information on how to apply, how funding works, and what is required of you to maintain eligibility for tuition assistance.
If you are looking for different financial aid options, make sure you take a look at Military scholarships.
Go to the Military OneSource website for detailed information on how to apply, how funding works, and what is required of you to maintain eligibility for TA.
The best way to see if Tidewater Tech is right for you is to see it for yourself.
Tidewater Tech has a special Military Representative on staff to connect you with admissions, financial aid, and all other departments. Your Military Representative will also help you connect with other military students on campus. This is your go-to person for all military and veteran-specific support services. Call 757-858-8324 to speak with your campus military representative.
Tidewater Tech also offers students the unique opportunity to complete their education with no loans to repay.
If you are eligible for Chapter 33, this Debt-Free* Program offers forgiveness of tuition and fees not covered by Chapter 33 and Federal Pell Grant, as long as you do not receive any Federal Title IV student loans. The grant does not cover books, supplies, housing, or charges for repeat coursework the VA does not, by policy, cover. Each academic year, the institution will consider Chapter 33 benefits and any federal Pell Grant funding as payment in full, up to the full tuition and fee cost for the program. This commitment to our Veterans assures that service men and women transition from the military with financial freedom and the skills and certifications needed to attain employment in their chosen field and thrive as professionals in the civilian workplace. Talk with a Financial Aid Adviser for more details.
*For veterans and active-duty personnel who are eligible for Chapter 33 at the 100% coverage level.
